Musical chairs at PTT Group firms

PTT Plc, the national oil and gas conglomerate, has restructured 10 high-ranking executives at several of its companies, according to a resolution from PTT's board of directors yesterday.

Chawalit Tippawanich is named president and chief executive of Global Power Synergy Plc.

For top positions, it resolved to appoint Chawalit Tippawanich as president and chief executive of Global Power Synergy Plc (GPSC), PTT's power business.

He will replace Toemchai Bunnag, who is going to retire from Sept 30.

Mr Chawalit earlier was executive vice-president for organisation effectiveness at Thai Oil Plc, PTT's oil refinery business.

His new duty at GPSC will be a debt restructuring programme to cut financial costs after GPSC took over Glow Energy Plc in the second quarter this year.

The takeover deal was worth 139 billion baht for GPSC.

The board also appointed Wittawat Svasti-xuto as PTT's chief technology and engineering officer, replacing Chansin Treenuchagron, who became PTT's president and chief executive on Aug 31.

Mr Wittawat is promoted from PTT's senior executive vice-president.

The board also appointed Pannalin Mahawongtikul to be chief financial officer at PTT.

She will replace Nitima Thepvanangkul, who is scheduled to retire from Sept 30.

Ms Pannalin is positioned as executive vice-president at PTT Exploration and Production Plc, PTT's oil and gas drilling business.
