Musical about pop legend Cher to make Irish premiere at Bord Gais next summer

The Bord Gais Energy Theatre has today announced that The Cher Show will make its Dublin debut on Tuesday, July 19 and will run until Saturday, July 30 2022.

The musical is packed with 35 of the superstar’s biggest hits including If I Could Turn Back Time, I Got You Babe, Strong Enough, The Shoop Shoop Song and Believe.

Having debuted on Broadway in 2018 in a production that earned two Tony Awards, The Cher Show follows the legendary singer's incredible rise to fame, charting her journey from the shy daughter of an Armenian American truck driver to one of the world's most successful musical acts.

The musical will be directed by Arlene Phillips (Saturday Night Fever, Starlight Express, Grease) and choreographed by two-time Strictly Come Dancing champion Oti Mabuse.

The new production of the hit show written by Tony Award-winning Rick Elice will be the European premiere.

The Cher Show will be choreographed by Oti Mabuse and directed by Arlene Phillips with costume design is by Gabriella Slade (Oliver Rosser)

The show promises to introduce important characters in Cher's life such as her mother, Sunny Bono and Bob Mackie. Audiences will see the pop sensation battle against men who underestimated her and ultimately watch her achieve independence.

Speaking about the new production of the show, choreographer and TV star Oti Mabuse said: "Every song in the show is a hit and we are going full out with exciting routines and movement. It’s going to be a party! Cher has been such an inspiration to so many people and this musical is going to be a celebration of everything people love about her."

Tickets for The Cher Show will go on sale this Friday, November 12th and start at €21.
