Music Weekly: Yeah Yeah Yeahs

There will be no guitars on this week's show. Repeat: no guitars. Well, OK, maybe just one or two, but if you believe the hype about Yeah Yeah Yeahs' new album, It's Blitz!, there's not a Fender or Gibson in sight. Tim Jonze got to the bottom of this scurrilous rumour when he met up with Karen O and company last week to talk classic dance records, her solo album and how the band felt about Kanye West leaking their tracks.

Singles Club proves to be an equally guitar-less affair, starting with Dead Prez and their new Obama-baiting single Stimulus Plan. Guardian.co.uk/music writer Rebecca Nicholson introduces Brooklyn band Androids & Apes so Paul MacInnes and Rosie Swash can ponder whether they really do sound like the theme from a John Hughes movie, and we turn our ears to the latest Eminem track, We Made You.

There's more new music, and more hip-hop, in the shape of south London newcomer Speech Debelle. The 26-year-old rapper is winning praise all over the shop for her soulful single The Key, and she counts Micachu and Roots Manuva among her fans, and she tells Rosie about the story behind her emotional debut album and what is was like to be discovered by Big Dada Records.

And just before we rap up (sorry) this week's particularly urban show, Laura Barton divulges her passion for folkster Tim Hardin in the feature with no name. So there you go, a bit of guitar after all.

As always, please let us know your thoughts and keep us informed of what you want more of. Until next week listeners, it's been real.
