Music Weekly podcast: Primal Scream's Glastonbury recipe – plus Kode9

In the news this week, Alexis contemplates tight trousers at the Abba museum, and our guest Kate Mossman on the remarkable stage recovery of Justin Bieber.

Kate is with us for Singles Club too, where tracks from Wardell, Kid A and Miguel and Mariah are up for discussion. One important issue that comes up is whether bands should ever be allowed to laugh on their records.

Primal Scream's new album, More Light, is out next week – previewed by our very own Tim Jonze as "a psychedelic trip with krautrock, gospel, bursts of free-jazz, propulsive horns, a sense of revolutionary rage and, yes, the odd cringe-inducing lyric." The Scream are also veterans of the festival circuit – so with the Guide's Festival Guide coming out with this Saturday's Guardian, it seemed like the right time to ask Bobby Gillespie about his festival experiences and how he really feels about hippies.

Finally, Steve Goodman – aka Kode9 – talks to Kieran about all things Hyperdub, why the US is having a purple dance patch and his new club mix for Rinse.

Thanks for listening.
