Music Weekly podcast: London jazz festival

As the London jazz festival gets under way, Guardian jazz critic John Fordham tells us what to fill our diaries with from the packed programme.

Speaking of jazz, this week's resident expert is Jason Phipps who presents Jazz by Association on French Radio London, a show dedicated to contemporary jazz and improvised music. Jason presents us with tracks to listen to from Colin Stetson, John Escreet, Baptiste Trotignon and the Kairos 4tet.

Joining Alexis in the pod for Singles Club this week are Tim Jonze and Rebecca Nicholson, who lend their critical ears to tracks by Drake featuring Rihanna, Factory Floor and A$AP Rocky.

Plus, John Foxx and Xeno and Oaklander explain to Louis Pattison why they just can't get enough of analogue synthesisers … even if they do catch fire while you're playing them.

And finally, your posts, which include one listener's thought that we should generally throw more cats around during Music Weekly. As ever, leave your comments and reviews below, or tweet us @MusicWeeklyPod
