Music Weekly: Jose Gonzalez

He's the man who came to fame on the back of an unlikely cover song in a prominent advert, but Jose Gonzalez proved to have a lot more about him than just Heartbeats and bouncing balls.

The acoustic singer-songwriter joins us in the pod this week on the verge of releasing his second album in which, he says, he wants to get away from telling tales of love and loss and all the usual stuff and, well, talk about philosophy instead.

It may look pompous in print, but Jose is probably the most thoughtful guest we've had yet. See if you can read between the lines when he's forced to review the latest Damien Rice track...

In other bits, Rosie bids farewell to uber-influential but largely unsuccessful act ESG, who are calling it a day after 30 years, and the other tracks under consideration are Ian Brown's Illegal Attacks and a surprising return from Lisa Maffia, once of So Solid Crew.
