Music Weekly at Glastonbury 2009: Day one - Jamie T and Maximo Park

Glastonbury festival is underway and Paul MacInnes, Rosie Swash and Tim Jonze will be your guides over the next three days. Every morning we'll be bringing you a roundup of news and reviews from the previous day, as well highlighting the perfomances to catch.

However, we start today's podcast with the reaction from the crowd last night, as news of the death of Michael Jackson spread around the site. The reaction was one of shock and sadness, and we hear which of his tracks people will remember most.

Returning to the festival, we'll be bringing you interviews with some of the best and most interesting acts here at Worthy Farm, and today is no exception. Jamie T talks to Rosie about his first Glastonbury experience, and how he overcame nerves when playing huge festivals.

Paul talks to Maximo Park's Paul Smith – they played on Thursday, as a kind of unofficial opening act – hear how their setlist of fan-chosen tracks (including plenty of B-sides) went down...

There's also a look ahead at who to catch this weekend, and Rosie gives us an interesting observation from the festival so far.

Don't forget – we'll be back tomorrow morning, and every morning during the festival, and we'll have a roundup of live music highlights from the Guardian Lounge on Monday morning too.
