Following Cambodia and Laos, Myanmar has become the next destination for revolutionising music consumption.
BEC-Tero Music has teamed up with local business alliance IMIMobile to offer a streaming service for music produced by BEC-Tero, Sony Music, YG Entertainment, JYP Entertainment and AVEX Group through the Ooredoo mobile network in Myanmar.
Myanmar possesses significant potential growth due to economic expansion and increased customer purchasing power, which should mean the growth of digital content business, said Paul Manatthaworn, BEC-Tero general manager.
"One of the strategies to stabilise and sustain growth of BEC-Tero Music is to focus primarily on expansion in foreign markets," he said.
During the past two years, the company has been granted the exclusive rights to distribute music in Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar and Laos.
Manatthaworn said Myanmar offers many opportunities favouring digital content business expansion, such as an emerging economy, an increasing employment rate and the transformation of Myanmar society from a rural to urban community. Purchasing power burgeons when entertainment and recreation becomes more acceptable, he said.
The company will leverage co-operation with local partners who have expertise in music content, and utilise the telecoms business as distribution agents for its digital music services. The partnerships will help the company cater content to consumers more easily.
"The co-operation between BEC–Tero Music and IMIMobile opens a new chapter of digital content marketing in Myanmar. In future, we plan to expand business by joining hands with other partners in Myanmar to cater to the rising trend of digital music listening for a new generation," he said.
Consumers will enjoy a variety of music content from Thai, Japanese and Korean talent. View song lists and instructions on how to purchase favourite songs at zone.ooredoo.com.mm.
