Music fund Hipgnosis buys songwriter’s David Guetta hits

Hipgnosis Songs, the fund set up to buy music rights, snapped up its sixth back catalogue on Thursday after striking a deal for tunes penned by DJ David Guetta collaborator Giorgio Tuinfort.

No price was given for the collection, which comprises 182 songs including 23 UK No 1 singles.

Tuinfort has written nearly 40 songs with French superstar Guetta, pictured, and also wrote the anthem for the UEFA Nations League.

It marks the sixth takeover by music industry veteran Merck Mercuriadis since the float of Hipgnosis in June for £200 million.

The fund will get Tuinfort’s royalty rights and in return he receives cash up front.

Mercuriadis said the 37-year-old Dutch classical pianist was the “most underrated hit songwriter of the last 20 years”.

Hipgnosis has so far bought the rights to songs by artists such as Justin Bieber, Little Mix, Beyoncé, Emeli Sandé, Rihanna, Jay-Z and James Arthur.
