Music fans scramble for Warehouse Project tickets that sold out so fast it was like 'Willy Wonka'

Tens of thousands of music lovers faced a frantic scramble to secure Warehouse Project tickets over the last two days, with demand soaring for the return of the club nights.

The massive event confirmed its return to Depot Mayfield earlier this week with six reopening shows, including an appearance from Nile Rodgers and Chic.

While more shows are to be announced in June, the demand to return to the dancefloor for the first events has been 'overwhelming' according to organisers.

Warehouse Project boss Sacha Lord, also behind Parklife, said the team are 'absolutely humbled' and 'blown away' by the support shown by fans.

Several fans expressed their disappointment today though, after three of the confirmed shows sold out through the pre-sale before the general sale even began.

Some people shared screenshots of the virtual queue for remaining tickets, with up to 22,000 people in line - Depot Mayfield only has a capacity of 10,000.

The Warehouse Project tweeted yesterday: "We're overwhelmed by the support shown in today's pre-sale. Thank you for your support."

Sacha Lord followed this with a tweet that read: "After 17 months of no full @WHP_Mcr shows, we are all completely blown away this morning.

"Some shows are already being taken off sale and no more tickets will be released. Thank you so much for your support. We are all absolutely humbled."

Lucky fans who did manage to snap up a ticket compared it to winning one of Willy Wonka's golden tickets.

Another person said : "Can’t wait to hit the dance floor again - it’s been way too long."

The virtual queue for tickets caused a fair amount of hysteria this morning too.

One person found themselves behind 22,000 other virtual customers just 36 seconds after the on sale began.

One Twitter user said : "Against all odds in queues of 19 thousand people, we got WHP tickets. THE DEVIL WORKS HARD BUT MY TEAM WORK HARDER"

Half of the events had completely sold out in the presale, echoing similar scenes when Parklife went on sale earlier in the year.

One person said : "Why call it a Pre sale but sell ALL of the tickets??? Annoying"

The M.E.N. has approached The Warehouse Project for comment.
