Music fans lost in the moment

De La Soul
De La Soul, Manchester, October 2006
Simon Bowcock: "You never would think De La Soul were the band, just looking at the picture. That’s what I liked about it. I would have expected their fans to be a little bit older but this guy was in his early twenties and quite indie. He was screaming out the words and everything."

Tech9
Tech9, Roskilde festival, Denmark, July 2006
Simon Bowcock: "I’ve never heard of this band before or since. They’re a rap act who dress in priest outfits and obviously have quite a cult following – the gig was in a tiny tent and it was packed. This is one of the few group shots that worked – they can look like any old moshpit. The purple light helps."

Hatesphere
Hatesphere, Roskilde festival, Denmark, June 2006
Simon Bowcock: "What a great name for a band, eh? These guys were Danish metal and the atmosphere was crazy – they crowd-surfed in the first song and I got soaked with beer. The crowd were brilliant, loads of hair. One guy even had a sword!"

Milburn
Milburn, Sheffield, December 2006
Simon Bowcock: "Most of the gig, this girl was really smiley – pogoing and dancing around. I caught her in a rare meditative moment. Milburn are just like the Arctic Monkeys but not as well known. They’re scarily young – I saw them at the bar without the price of a pint between them."

Alexander Kowalski
Alexander Kowalski, Benicassim festival, Spain, July 2006
Simon Bowcock: "This is in the dance tent – the DJ was this really geeky guy. I don’t remember much about taking this at the time but I like the way the picture came out – she’s really into the music and her expression makes her look almost foetal."

My Chemical Romance
My Chemical Romance, Roskilde festival, Denmark, July 2007
Simon Bowcock: "My current favourite of the images. I like that she’s watching My Chemical Romance but she’s not very emo. Emo gigs are great – you get kids that are really shy in real life, they come to see their favourite bands and they transform."
