Music fans flipping out for G Flip as a third show added at the Cambridge Hotel

IN DEMAND: G Flip has already sold more than 1600 tickets in two days.

IT'S official. Newcastle is mad about Georgia Flipo, aka G Flip.

On Tuesday the indie-pop artist became the first act to ever schedule three consecutive nights at the Cambridge Hotel after her first two gigs sold out in record time.

On Monday G Flip's initial show on Friday, May 22 went on sale and all 800 tickets were snapped up within two hours during the pre-sale.

Cambridge Hotel licensee Dru Russell said the gig sold out quicker than the infamous 2015 show from US hip-hop star Childish Gambino.

A second show on Thursday, May 21 then went on sale on Tuesday morning and was sold out by the afternoon.

It led to the Cambridge announcing an unprecedented third show for Wednesday, May 20.

G Flip is yet to play in Newcastle, but performed at last year's Groovin The Moo festival at the Maitland Showground.

It's been the classic meteoric rise. In February 2018 Flipo uploaded her track About You onto Triple Unearthed, hopeful someone may enjoy her bedroom-produced track detailing her on and off-relationship with girlfriend Jemma Williams.

About You instantly blew up, and practically overnight G Flip was the flavour of the month on Triple J.

"When I think back to that day, I woke up and I had no idea I was going to go to bed with a music career," Georgia told the Newcastle Herald in December.

"I woke up and I was still trying to make it and play drums in bands, was still playing weddings, teaching kids how to play drums, guitar and piano and then throughout the day I uploaded About You to Unearthed and the rest is history.

"I went to bed and I had a job title."

About You and the follow-up Killing My Time would poll in the 2018 Triple J Hottest 100 at No.38 and No.62.

Then last year G Flip released her debut album About Us, which received ARIA Award nominations for Breakthrough Artist and Best Independent Release.

The love continued to flow from Triple J listeners who voted in three of her tracks in last year's poll, including Drink Too Much (No.6).

Tickets for G Flip's third and final Cambridge Hotel show are on sale through oztix.com.au.
