Music documentaries to watch if you loved Framing Britney Spears

It's been so long since any of us were able to set foot in a concert venue and see our favourite musicians perform live.

Most of us have had to get our live music fix through the small screen for the last year, and thankfully there are dozens of documentaries out there to work through.

One of the latest to hit the big time is Framing Britney Spears, which became Sky Documentaries' most-watched programme and had fans labelling it 'heartbreaking'.

Music documentaries can cover all sorts of elements of the industry, from the excitement of the stage to the nerves of the backstage area to the difficulties fame brings.

Framing Britney Spears

This feature-length documentary looks back Britney Spears' 28-year-long career, and explores the decade-long conservatorship that she has been under.

Produced by the New York Times, it travels from the pop star's early career all the way up to the present day.

The documentary features plenty of unearthed footage and interviews with Britney, in which she was asked about her appearance, her breasts, and her break-up with Justin Timberlake.

Billie Eilish: The World's A Little Blurry

Released just last week, this documentary charts the incredible rise of teenage singer-songwriter Billie Eilish.

It comes from award-winning filmmaker R. J. Cutler and follows how she navigates life on the road, on stage and with her family while recording her debut album at just 17 years old.

It's available to stream now on Apple TV.

Taylor Swift: Miss Americana

In this revealing documentary, pop superstar Taylor Swift embraces her role as a songwriter and performer — and as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice.

Plus fans can also watch her Reputation Stadium Tour in full which is also available on Netflix. The show sees her perform to a sold-out crowd of 50,000 fans in support of her sixth studio album 'Reputation'.

Blossoms - Back to Stockport

This feature-length Amazon Prime documentary follows Blossoms in the run-up to their enormous 2019 homecoming gig at Edgeley Park.

The gig saw the group perform in front of a crowd of 15,000 fans at the stadium and earned a five-star review from the M.E.N.

Directed by long-term collaborator of the band Charlie Watt, it strings together snippets from the concert last June, exclusive interviews with the band members, and behind-the-scenes footage.

Homecoming: A Film by Beyonce

This intimate, in-depth look at Beyoncé's 2018 Coachella performance reveals the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.

Fans can watch the work that went into the performance as well as see the iconic set in full which features hits 'Drunk In Love', 'Formation', 'Love on Top' and Destiny's Child classics featuring members Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland.

Oasis: Supersonic

This 2016 documentary looks at the rise of Oasis and the creativity and chaos that brothers Noel and Liam brought to the iconic band.

It features voice overs from the group's numerous members as they talk viewers through the group's highs and lows.

Gaga: Five Foot Two

This 2017 documentary follows pop icon Lady Gaga as she preps for the biggest show of her career so far - the Super Bowl halftime show - gets ready to release her new album 'Joanne' and confronts physical and emotional struggles.
