Music Box series 6: Rapper Duckwrth performs new single 'Crush'

Music Box is back for its sixth series, launching with a stripped-down session by US rapper/crooner Duckwrth

The California artist has been building a major fanbase over the past year, along with nods of approval from the likes of Anderson .Paak and Tyler, the Creator.

He grew up in South Central Los Angeles during the Nineties at the height of the West Coast rap boom, listening to G-funk stars such as Snoop Dogg and DJ Quik – to the chagrin of his religious mother.

In August he released a new single, "Crush", which recalls the smooth, Latin-influenced R&B of Pharrell and Justin Timberlake. "I'm a habitual crusher," he told Billboard at the time. "I probably crush like 20 times a day, scrolling through socials. This song and video serves as my confessional. Pray for me."

"Crush" is a single taken from Duckwrth's forthcoming debut album, which is scheduled for release in February 2020. For his Music Box session, he also performed "King King" and "Nobody Falls", from his EP The Falling Man, and was accompanied by J Hawk on guitar.

Thanks to Duckwrth, J Hawk, Xtina Prince, Quinton Faulkner and Julie Smith (Stoked PR).

Music Box series 6 continues on Monday 11 November
