As part of Melbourne’s Nite Art event, the University of Melbourne museum invites guests to view artworks and listen to artists share their own personal museum experiences. The Harry Brookes Allen museum holds one of Australia’s largest collections of human tissue specimens and anatomical models and has been home to four resident artists, whose work will be on display.
The featured artists include Sydney-based Penny McKay, whose work focuses on the patterns in DNA; doctor of Medicine student and artist Oshi Swarup, who has produced a series of oil paintings relating to the heart; student Georgia Goodnow, who has produced a series of drawings, and said that body was a language that she attempted to understand through her art; and student Finn Astle who has produced a series of drawings and animations.
