Police Scotland have closed Ravelston Dykes at the junction with Murrayfield Road after a two car collision which led to one vehicle bursting into flames.
The incident is understood to have taken place at around 1:20pm on Thursday December 2.
Emergency services are believed to have rushed to the scene to deal with the incident and there is traffic disruption as a result.

It is also understood that an individual was treated for injuries at the scene of the crash and that the fire service put out the fire on the vehicle.
Lothian buses released a service alert that warned travelers that the 38 service would be disrupted due to the road closure at Ravelston.
They said on their site: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Craigleith Crescent, Ravelston Dykes, Murrayfield Road and Ellersly Road and are instead diverted via Hillhouse Road, Queensferry Road, Clermiston Road North, Clermiston Road, St Johns Road and Corstorphine Road in both directions until further notice.”
Several police cars, fire engines and a police cordon were visible in a picture posted by residents to Twitter.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.22pm on Thursday, December 2 to reports of a car on fire at Murrayfield Road, Edinburgh.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire engines to a collision which involved two vehicles.
"Firefighters extinguished a fire which affected one vehicle and assisted emergency service partners at the scene.
“One casualty was in the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service and crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”
Police Scotland have been contacted for comment.
