Murray Davidson tipped for St Johnstone Betfred Cup Final comeback as Callum Davidson praises 'quick healer'

Murray Davidson is on track to return for St Johnstone in time for the Perth club's date with destiny in the Betfred Cup Final.

The midfielder went off injured in the first half of Saints' match against Rangers earlier this month and was looking doubtful for the clash against Livingston at Hampden Park on February 28.

Despite missing matches against the Lions and Celtic, Perth boss Callum Davidson is optimistic one of his most experienced stars will be fit to take on David Martindale 's side at the national stadium, while the 32-year-old is "touch and go" to face Motherwell on Saturday.

The manager said: "Murray Davidson has stepped up his rehabilitation this week.

"He is probably touch and go for Saturday but looking good for next week. Progression has gone really well.

"The only thing is when you are on a tight timeline with injuries, any set-back is obviously not great but at the moment he is progressing really well and it is about getting the right balance, pushing him enough that he can be back full training next week.

"It is great news. We always knew Murray was a quick healer so we will see how he gets on and the next two or three days are probably vital.

"So all good and the rest of the squad is all good as well."
