Murlough Beach crash cleared as PSNI reopen Dundrum Road

Police say a Co Down road has reopened after an earlier collision.

Officers were in attendance for several hours after a three-vehicle crash on the Dundrum Road.

The incident happened close to the entrance to Murlough Beach.

Motorists in the surrounding areas were advised to avoid the Dundrum Road as traffic was "very heavy" following the collision.

A PSNI update read: "Motorists are advised that the Dundrum Road has now reopened following an earlier three vehicle road traffic collision."

Meanwhile, a Northern Ireland man who suffered catastrophic injuries in a fall from scaffolding at work in the USA, has died.

Sean Hughes, 27, was left fighting for his life following the incident in Philadelphia on December 11, 2020 and had been in hospital since.

The father of one moved from Armagh over five years ago to build a life for himself in America.

A GoFundMe page to help fly his family over to the US raised over £27,000 but sadly the young joiner hasn't made it.

An obituary read that Sean, from Allistragh, had died "peacefully in hospital in Philadelphia" on Saturday, June 12 and that his funeral arrangements will be announced later.
