An old-fashioned newspaper war is about to break out in London, says Tim Luckhurst in the Independent on Sunday. He tells how preparations are being made at rival groups to launch free afternoon newspapers in the capital and quotes an unnamed Network Rail spokesman as saying: "News International has gone much further than other bidders in putting its team together." Media moguls don't like to come second. (Via independent.co.uk)
