Rupert Murdoch will roll out an afternoon free newspaper across the country if thelondonpaper, to be launched on Monday, meets revenue and profit targets. His company, News International, said: "We set no limits on the success of this operation. We're not going to stop there [with London]. Why would we? Our ambitions are unquantified." It will be Murdoch's first newspaper launch in this country and he is said to be "very excited" as "a newspaper man through and through." He is evidently hoping that the freesheet will break even in 18 months, following in the footsteps of his free papers in Australia. (Via ft.com)
