Scott Alan Murdoch, the 43-year-old Victorian man who killed mother-of-three Kylie Blackwood, has been found dead in prison.
Murdoch was found dead in his cell at the Melbourne Assessment Prison in West Melbourne at 6:00am Monday.
In May last year, Murdoch was sentenced to life in prison after fatally stabbing Ms Blackwood in August 2013 and leaving her to be found bleeding to death on the couch by her 11-year-old twins.
Circumstances relating to Murdoch's death are yet to be determined and Victoria Police's Homicide Squad is currently investigating.
As with all deaths in custody, the matter has been referred to the coroner, who will formally determine the cause of death.
Sources told the ABC that Murdoch did not show up for his morning medicine and was found dead in his cell soon after.
