Murderer Jake Rollinson will be assessed by a psychologist before he is sentenced over the murder of 16-year-old Joseph Whitchurch.
Rollinson, 20, was convicted of Joseph's murder on Wednesday, September 1.
Peter Joyce, representing Rollinson, asked for the commission of a further psychologist's report.
A notional mention hearing has been arranged for November 24. A sentencing date is yet to be fixed.
Joseph, who was stabbed at least four times by Rollinson on Boxing Day morning, died on December 29.
Nottingham Crown Court had been told that Joseph himself took drugs supplied by Rollinson and also assisted Rollinson, of Hickings Lane, Stapleford, with his drug dealing.
On one level, Joseph looked up to Rollinson, but, on another, young Joseph was scared of Rollinson, who now faces a life sentence for his murder. Joseph was also threatened and bullied by him, the court was told.
Rollinson and his girlfriend, Lorna Richardson, were filmed giving false accounts to officers, after the stabbing, which the prosecution had said was intended to "wrong-foot" the police investigation.
Rollinson and Richardson, 25, of Blake Road in Stapleford, were charged with perverting the course of justice and both have pleaded guilty to that charge, and must be sentenced for it.
