Murdered Trainspotting star Bradley Welsh to have children's playpark built in his honour

A kids’ playpark is set to be built in Edinburgh as a permanent memorial to murdered Bradley Welsh.

A group of his friends have raised more than £2000 to build an outdoor facility for young people, dubbed Brad’s Community Play Den.

The former Hibs casual was a committed fundraiser for local kids through his Helping Hands charity.

The 48-year-old, who was shot dead on April 17, was a regular visitor to Muirhouse Millennium Centre and donated dozens of gifts, biscuits and bikes for local children.

A team of walkers from Edinburgh completed the 97-mile West Highland Way to raise funds for play equipment in memory of the ex-boxer.

Welsh, who appeared in Trainspotting 2, was shot dead outside his basement flat in Edinburgh’s New Town.

A 28-year-old man has appeared in court in connection with his death.
