The father of the murdered schoolteacher Stephanie Scott has been killed by a falling tree.
Police were called to a farm on Namami Road, Canowindra, in central west New South Wales, at about noon on Tuesday following reports of a death.
It is believed Robert Scott died after after being struck by a fallen tree while clearing trees from the property. His body was found on Tuesday morning.
Police will prepare a report for the corner.
Scott’s death comes less than three weeks after his daughter’s killer was sentenced to life in prison.
Vincent Stanford was handed a life sentence for the murder of Stephanie Scott, 26, as well as 15 years for aggravated sexual assault.
Scott, a schoolteacher, was killed when she went into Leeton high school on Easter last year to plan lessons for her class. Stanford was a cleaner at the school.
Her mother, Merrilyn, gave a statement outside the NSW supreme court after the sentence was handed down in which she said she hoped the family would be able to resume their lives.
