Murdered Jason Corbett's children post emotional tribute to 'brave' dad on 44th birthday

Murdered Jason Corbett's children have paid an emotional tribute to their "brave and kind" dad on what would have been his 44th birthday.

The Limerick businessman was found with fatal head injuries at the home he shared with his second wife Molly Martens in Walburg, North Carolina, on August 2, 2015.

His two kids Jack and Sarah Corbett-Lynch posted a video online, with a collection of family photos, in memory of their beloved dad.

They said: "Dad, You were brave, courageous, funny and kind.

"You lived and died for us. There are no more Happy Birthday’s with us.

"We love and miss you always. Jack and Sarah Corbett Lynch xxx."

His wife Molly and her retired FBI agent dad Tom were found guilty of second degree murder and caged for his killing.

However, last week the North Carolina Court of Appeals upheld an appeal to to quash the pair's convictions.

Martens and her father were sentenced to 20-25 years in prison but launched an appeal against the ruling, claiming they had not been given a fair trial.

A jury's majority verdict found the two killers were entitled to a fresh trial.

The Supreme Court is set to review the decision as the verdict wasn't unanimous.

Mr Corbett’s young children Jack and Sarah – whose mother died of an asthma attack in 2006 – were in the house at the time of his death and they now live with his sister Tracey Lynch and her husband Dave in Limerick.
