Murdered Govan gran Julie Reilly’s sister thanks public for touching messages after BBC documentary

The heartbroken sister of murdered Govan gran Julie Reilly has thanked the public for their touching messages after a BBC documentary about the horror death aired.

Murder Case: The Disappearance of Julie Reilly follows detectives during the murder probe and search for Julie’s body parts.

The second episode of the three-part series aired last night.

The 47-year-old was brutally butchered by Andrew Wallace at her Govan flat between February 6 and 15 last year.

He chopped her up after the slaying and stashed her body parts in different locations across the city.

Wallace was later caged for 28 years for the murder.

Tiona Hanlon, Julie’s daughter, said the documentary was a “hard watch” as she urged viewers to remember her mum instead of evil Wallace.

Julie’s sister Lynn Bryce featured in the programme and took to social media to thank viewers after the episode had aired.

She said: “I would just like to take this opportunity to thank each and every single person for all the lovely messages regarding my beautiful sister's documentary.

“Thank you all for watching it.

“Julie is now at peace with her beautiful daughter.”

Meanwhile, daughter Tiona, posted: "Just want to say a massive thank you to all the lovely people who sent me a message regarding the documentary about my Mum .

"I’m overwhelmed by the impact it’s had on everyone and your kind words are very much appreciated."

Hundreds left heartfelt tributes for Julie on Lynn’s post.

One said: “So sorry for your loss, terrible thing you’ve all gone through. Xx”

Another wrote: “R.I.P Julie you showed such dignity throughout she will be proud of yous xx”.

Another added: “So sad. RIP Julie. What a lovely family you have. Hope they can get peace now. So sad xxx”.

One wrote: “Cried my eyes out,. So heartbreaking for all your family. You all done Julie proud. Fly high angel”.
