A jury has been shown graphic CCTV footage of a young man allegedly being bashed to death over fake Apple earphones.

Abdul Karaali pleaded not guilty to the murder of Ross Houllis on Tuesday at the NSW Supreme Court.

Mr Houllis, 28, died in hospital from catastrophic injuries to the brain and lungs as a result of being beaten by Karaali and Sami Hamdach in February 2020, the court was told.

Crown prosecutor Phil Hogan warned jurors that they would have to watch footage of Mr Houllis being bashed to death as part of the trial.

An additional audio recording of part of the bashing would also be included as evidence.

Karaali is accused of beating Mr Houllis for "revenge".

Hamdach allegedly bought Apple Airpods from Mr Houllis and his brother Matthew off Facebook Marketplace without realising they were fake.

His partner Loubna Kawtharani then contacted Mr Houllis as another potential buyer, the Crown said.

"But she didn't want to do that. She was setting Ross up so Sami could get revenge," Mr Hogan told the jury.

Hamdach, through his girlfriend, arranged to meet Mr Houllis in Waverley in Sydney's east.

Karaali allegedly accompanied Hamdach when Mr Houllis was bashed.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
