Murder trial: Cowboys fan’s insult of Eagles led to fatal stabbing

The Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are arch-rivals. The NFC East teams can be considered hated foes. Somehow, life and death allegedly came together after the Eagles won Super Bowl LII over the New England Patriots.

A murder trial is underway in Mount Holly, N.J. The killing took place when a man named Supreme Life’s son, Antoine Ketler, returned home from shopping after the Eagles’ victory in 2018.

Per Philly.com:

Life testified that amid the cheers and ringing of cowbells, he ribbed his son about being a Dallas fan. Ketler replied, “F— the Eagles.” …

Two New York men who were driving by heard the remark and attacked Ketler, Life said. He said he then went back outside to his son’s aid. Life said he stabbed Moriah Walker, 26, of Brooklyn, in self-defense. “I was overpowered,” said Life, who is also charged with attempted murder for stabbing Walker’s friend, Raheem Williams, 23, of Queens, in the abdomen.

Walker wound up with multiple wounds, including a fatal blow to the heart. He died at a hospital in Camden.

Ketler, the son, was also charged with murder and attempted murder. The murder charge was dismissed Tuesday.

All the details of the complicated case can be found here in this Philly.com article.
