Murder suspect to face trial over dad's death days before Christmas in Clydebank

A man is set to face trial over claims he killed a Scots dad days before Christmas.

Jordon Morrison, of Glasgow, is charged with killing William "Billy" McGuire in Clydebank.

Prosecutors claim Morrison, 24, killed the 25-year-old in his hometown and tried to kill his friend.

Both McGuire and his friend, 34, were found injured in the West Dunbartonshire town's Perth Crescent, at around 12.05am on December 21, 2020.

Both men were rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment, and Mr McGuire passed away a short time later.

A murder investigation was launched and Morrison was arrested during the probe.

He made his first court appearance in connection with the case on Saturday, January 2, and was remanded in custody after making no plea to the two charges he faces - murder and attempted murder.

He made his second court appearance in connection with the case on Monday.

Again he made no plea to the charges during the private hearing at Dumbarton Sheriff Court, where he was fully committed for trial.

No future court dates have been set.
