Murder suspect named after teenager hit by car

A man has been charged with murder after a 17-year-old motorcyclist was hit by a car.

A man has been charged with murder and causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving following an incident at the junction of Park Road and Boardmans Lane, St Helens. An investigation was launched following reports of a crash between a car and two motorbikes at around 12.30am yesterday, Tuesday, October 4.

Three people were taken to hospital following the crash and a 17-year-old boy died of his injuries a short time later. The teenager was formally identified this morning as Harley Lea.

Brandon Glover, of Pasture Close, St Helens was today charged with murder and causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving. The 24-year-old has also been charged with s18 GBH and attempted s18 GBH.

Glover was remanded into custody to appear at Wirral Magistrates' Court tomorrow, Thursday, October 6. A 19-year-old man arrested at the time has been released with no further action.

Two other men, aged 20 and 23, who were injured in the incident remain in hospital with their injuries. Merseyside Police also confirmed enquiries are ongoing.

Detective Chief Inspector John Fitzgerald told the ECHO yesterday: "The investigation is in the very early stages as we seek to establish what has taken place. We are reviewing CCTV and appealing for anyone who was in the area of Boardmans Lane and Park Road in the early hours to contact us.

"Anyone who believes they have captured something significant on their dash cam or mobile phone is also asked to get in touch as they may have information which is vital to the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC or contact @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111 quoting reference 22000732165."
