Murder squad cops seal off Paisley street after a serious flat fire

Murder squad cops have sealed off a Paisley street after a serious flat fire.

Officers from Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team are probing the incident in Whitesbridge Avenue.

Fire crews raced to reports of a fire at the Ferguslie home around 10pm last night.

Cops remain on site this morning with a large area near the house taped off.

A huge police presence was spotted at the scene last night, along with three fire engines.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 9.57pm on Thursday, May 6 to reports of a house on fire at Whites Bridge Avenue, Paisley.

“Operations Control immediately mobilised three appliances to the scene and firefighters extinguished a fire within the ground floor of the semi-detached property.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
