Murder squad cops launch probe after man dies following serious Paisley flat fire

Murder squad cops have launched a probe after a man died in a serious house fire in Paisley.

The 47-year-old was rushed to the Royal Alexandra Hospital but sadly passed away after the blaze in Whites Bridge Avenue around 10pm last night.

The area around the house has been lockdown by police.

It's understood Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team are leading the investigation and the man's death is currently being treated as "unexplained".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called around 10.05pm on Thursday, 6 May, to a report of fire at a property on Whites Bridge Avenue, Paisley.

“A 47-year-old man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital where he later died. The death is currently being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
