A murder investigation has begun into the death of a baby girl after a post-mortem ruled she died from a head injury.
The 16-month-old died on 17 September – four days after falling unwell and being admitted to hospital in east London.
Police launched a murder probe after a post-mortem at Great Ormond Street Hospital concluded the head injury had caused her death.
The Metropolitan Police arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on 14 September.
He has been released on bail until mid-October.
Enquiries into the death of the young girl from Plaistow are continuing.
Police said the identity of the child is known, but her name is not being made public at this stage.
Her next of kin have been informed.
