A murder investigation has been launched after a young man died in hospital more than two years after being shot in north London.
Boluwatife Oyewunmi, 22, was shot near a Travelodge Hotel in Enfield on April 5, 2017.
Officers confirmed Mr Oyewunmi, also from Enfield, died on July 11 in hospital after remaining in a critical condition until his death.
His cause of death was recorded as cardiac arrest, pneumonia and brain injury caused by a gunshot wound.
Detective Chief Inspector Paul Considine said the last two years had been a “very difficult period” for the young Londoner’s family, and is appealing for witnesses to the murder.
He said: “Two years is a long time. Loyalties between those behind this shooting may have changed. Do you have information about those responsible?
“The investigation has been open since the incident occurred and we continue to appeal to anyone with information to come forward and speak to us.
“The incident occurred near a Travelodge hotel in Enfield. Were you staying there? Did you hear or see anything that could be of use to the investigation?”
The shooting took place at about 9.45pm on Lincolon Road, near to a Travelodge. Five men who were arrested in 2017 remain under investigation in connection with the incident.
Three other men who were previously arrested have been released and will face no further action.
