Police are investigating after a 38-year-old woman's body was found with suspicious injuries at an apartment in Sydney's eastern suburbs this morning.

The woman was discovered just after 5am at a home on O'Brien Street in Bondi Beach with facial injuries.

Paramedics attempted to revive her, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man voluntarily went with police for questioning at Waverley Police Station.

No charges have been laid.

Police are awaiting the outcome of a post-mortem on the woman's body as they investigate the cause of her death.

US tourist Amy Patel arrived for a holiday in Bondi last week and was staying in the O'Brien Street apartment complex.

The 40-year-old said she was shocked to hear a woman's body had been found in the building.

"This is my first time visiting Sydney and it's a scary thing to hear", Ms Patel said.

"It's really sad to hear somebody passed away."
