A murder investigation is under way after two 16-year-old boys were stabbed to death one mile apart in Greenwich on Saturday evening.

Police rushed to Sewell Road in Abbey Wood and Titmuss Avenue in Thamesmead around 5.10pm, following reports people had been injured.

Officers attended the scene, along with the London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance.

Police found a 16-year-old boy with stab wounds at both locations.

"Despite the best efforts of the emergency services, both males have been pronounced dead this evening," a Metropolitan Police statement read.

"Crime scenes are in place at both locations and an investigation into the deaths of both males is under way.

"Their next of kin will be provided with support from specialist officers."

Police are trying to establish whether the two stabbings are linked given their proximity in time and distance.

Anyone with information should call 101, giving the reference 4943/26NOV. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
