A murder probe has been launched after a man in his 20s died after a shooting in Shepherd's Bush.

Police were called at around 00.40am to reports of a man suffering from gunshot injuries in Askew Road on Monday.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance all attended. Despite the efforts of the emergency services, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 1.26am.

A 69-year-old local resident, who did not want to be named, said she was laying in bed at about 12:30am when she heard “two or three” gunshots.

She said: “I saw a man laying in the street, sort of in the gutter in front of the bus stop, and several cars had stopped and the people were trying to help and one of them was trying to give CPR.”

Police arrived and also helped to try and revive the man before an ambulance made it to the scene, she said.

The woman was later informed by police officers knocking at her door that the victim had died.
