Murder investigation launched into the death of a 22-year-old woman in Swansea

Police in Swansea have launched a murder investigation after the death of a 22-year-old woman in Mount Pleasant, Swansea.

The victim has been named locally as Sammy Lee Lodwig, and tributes have been paid describing her as a 'beautiful soul'.

Significant police enquiries have been going in the area since 3.10am this morning, after officers responded to reports of the incident at Carlton Terrace, which police described as a serious assault.

Armed officers have been deployed alongside divisional units and the police helicopter.

The deceased woman has not yet been officially identified.

A statement from the force read: "We appreciate the local community’s continued support while our investigations are ongoing.

"We ask anyone with information about the incident to contact us via 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, quoting occurrence 1900144514."
