Murder investigation launched in Merseyside as woman dies after being found bleeding in street

A murder investigation has been launched after a woman died in hospital after being found bleeding in street

A man has now been arrested on suspicion of murdering a 45-year-old woman.

Police were called by the ambulance service to Moorland Road, Maghull, Merseyside, at about 9.20pm on Saturday to a report of concern for the woman.

According to eye witnesses, locals in the street rushed outside after the woman collapsed on the driveway of a home with serious injuries, the Liverpool Echo reports.

They said she was bleeding heavily after sustaining what is believed to have been a neck injury.

Despite efforts to save her before emergency services arrived, the woman was taken to hospital where she sadly died.

A 47-year-old man, who is believed to have been known to the woman, was held on suspicion of murder.

A spokeswoman for Merseyside Police said: "Specialist officers are supporting her relatives at this difficult time.

"Investigations are ongoing into the full circumstances, and forensic analysis as well as house-to-house inquiries will likely continue throughout the weekend."

Anyone with information should contact police quoting log 1071 of August 15.
