A murder investigation was launched after a woman was found dead inside a property in Prescot.
Emergency services were called to Tinling Close at around 1.20am on Monday, November 16, to reports that a woman in her 50s had been found seriously injured.
She was sadly pronounced dead at around 1.40am.
Merseyside Police said the victim will be formally identified and a post mortem will be carried out.
Her family are being supported by specialist officers.
A 60-year-old man from Prescot was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was taken to a police station for questioning.

In a statement on Monday, a police spokesperson said: "Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of the domestic murder of a woman in Prescot in the early hours of yesterday morning, Monday 16 November.
"At around 1.20am, emergency services were called to Tinling Close to reports of a woman in her 50s being found seriously injured.
"She was sadly pronounced deceased at around 1.40am.
"The victim will be formally identified and a post mortem carried out. Her family is being supported by specialist officers."
They continued: "A 60-year-old man from Prescot was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station for questioning. Officers remain at the location this morning to continue our investigation.
