Murder investigation in Warrington after man's body found after "concern for his safety"

A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a man in Warrington.

Police were called to the victim’s address on Station Road, in Poulton-with-Fearnhead following reports of concern for his safety.

When officers arrived at his address at 9.56pm on Sunday (August 4), they found the 58-year-old man had died.

His death was initially treated as unexplained but detectives have now launched a murder investigation following a Home Office post mortem.

Detective Inspector Sarah Oliver, of Cheshire Police's Major Investigation Team, called on anyone with information to come forward.

“The investigation is in its very early stages and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of what has happened,” she added.

“We have local officers in the area to provide reassurance to the community and anyone with any information or concerns is urged to speak to an officer.”

Anyone with information about the investigation should call Cheshire Police on 101, quoting IML 476959, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
