Murder investigation after man found dead in Parkhead flat named

The 45-year-old man found dead in Parkhead has now been named by police as Valerijs Litvins.

Detectives have launched a murder inquiry after Mr Litvins' body was found within a flat in Burgher Street at around 11.15pm on Sunday (March 7).

A post mortem has now been carried out and Police Scotland has confirmed his death is being treated as murder. Mr Litvins' family has been made aware.

Detective Chief Inspector Gillian Grant of Police Scotland's Major Investigation Team, said: "Officers have been in the area carrying out enquiries, checking CCTV and speaking to local residents in an effort to establish the circumstances surrounding his death, however, we are still keen to hear from anyone who may have information that would assist our investigation.

"We would be interested to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage from the street, or anyone who may have heard a disturbance in the area that night to contact us.

Detectives have also set up an online portal to encourage members of the public to submit information, which can be accessed here.
