Murder inquiry launched after man's body found under bridge in south-east London

A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was discovered under a bridge in a high street in south-east London.

Police were called by a member of the public shortly before 2pm on Wednesday to a report of a man found unresponsive near Plumstead station.

Officers and the London Ambulance Service and found the 32-year-old man with serious head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Met's Homicide and Major Crime Command is investigating his death.

Detectives believe they know the identity of the man but await formal identification. A post-mortem examination will be carried out.
