Police have launched a murder enquiry after the death of an inmate at HMP Low Moss .
Prison bosses called cops to the East Dunbartonshire jail after a 47-year-old prisoner was found dead in his cell on Monday.
He can now be named as Darren Brownlie.
His death is being treated as suspicious and a murder enquiry has been launched.
Police arrested four men on suspicion of assault and they have now been released.
A source told the Daily Record: "Police and forensics have been inside the prison and a blue tent was erected around the cell concerned.
"The hall was put on lockdown."
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police Scotland were made aware that a 47-year-old man had died at HMP Low Moss prison on Monday, January 6.
Following post-mortem examinations, we are treating the death as suspicious and a murder enquiry has been launched.
A report has been submitted to the procurator fiscal."
