Following a post mortem, his death is now being treated as murder.
Officers have now charged a 32-year-old in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Livingston Sheriff Court tomorrow.
A police presence remained at the scene throughout the day with an officer standing guard.
A forensics tent has been erected in the garden of the property over a parked vehicle.
Detective Inspector Brian Manchester said: “Our thoughts are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident.
“Local residents may continue to see a police presence in the area but this is being treated as a contained incident and there was no risk to the wider public at any time.”
