Murder charge withdrawn over SA brawl death

Rex Court died from severe head injuries.

A murder charge against a teenage boy over a street brawl in South Australia's south-east that resulted in a man's death has been dropped by prosecutors.

Rex Court, 32, died from head injuries he sustained when a fight broke out in Commercial Street East, Mount Gambier, last May.

Police alleged a verbal argument escalated into a large street fight.

The teenager and two men aged 20 and 23 were charged with murder.

Now the Director of Public Prosecutions has withdrawn the murder charge against the teenager at a hearing in the Adelaide Youth Court.

The boy is still facing a charge of assault causing serious harm.

He remains on bail and is due to face court again in February.
