A woman has faced the Adelaide Magistrates Court charged with murdering another woman at Kilburn, in Adelaide's north.

Ursula Williamson, 26, was arrested after police and paramedics were called to a block of units on Brooklyn Terrace at Kilburn just after 1am on Thursday.

Police allege the 45-year-old victim was stabbed in the leg and despite being rushed to the Royal Adelaide Hospital in a critical condition, died hours later.

Ms Williamson, from Pennington, faced court through a video link from custody and did not apply for bail.

Police said the two women were known to each other, but no further details of the offending were heard in court.

The case was adjourned until April.
