A man is set to be charged with murder after a 61-year-old died from head injuries following an assault last month.

Emergency crews found the 61-year-old man at a property south of Brisbane on September 29.

They were responding to reports a man had fallen to the ground after a blow to the head before being struck again multiple times, police said.

Police later arrested a 33-year-old man, initially charging him with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

The 61-year-old died in hospital on Tuesday, almost two weeks after the attack at Park Ridge South.

Police said the 33-year-old man was set to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Friday when his charge will be upgraded to murder.
