Murder bid leaves man fighting for his life after pair attacked in Glasgow

A 39-year-old man is fighting for his life in hospital after an attempted murder in Glasgow which left him with major injuries to his arms, legs and face.

Detectives are appealing to the public for information after two men were assaulted inside a property in Blochairn Place in the city’s Royston area. The attack happened around 10pm on Wednesday, January 5.

Police said two men were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where one of them, a 39-year-old, was treated for life-threatening injuries.

A 41-year-old man sustained a minor injury.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Palmer said: “We are treating the injuries to the 39-year-old man as attempted murder. He sustained significant injuries to his arms, legs and face which will require substantial treatment.

“I am asking anyone who was in the area at the time who saw anything or has dash-cam footage that can assist with our investigation to get in touch.

“In particular, we are keen to get more information about a car at the scene that moved off at speed in the direction of Royston Road.

“If you can help please contact us on 101, quoting incident number 3101 of Wednesday, 5 January, 2022, or make a call anonymously to the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
