A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman reportedly fell to her death from a window, police said.
A murder investigation was launched by officers on Saturday morning following a domestic incident in Prescot.
The force said it was called at about 3.30am to Greenall Court to a report a woman in her 40s was found with fatal injuries, having "reportedly fell from a window".
Officers said a 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene.
He was arrested on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station for questioning.
Pictures from the scene showed a heavy police presence in the area, as officers continue their investigation.
House-to-house enquiries will continue today, the force said.
A spokesman for the force said: "Detectives have arrested a man on suspicion of murder following a domestic incident in Prescot in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 9 May.
"At around 3.30am, emergency services were called to Greenall Court to a report of a woman in her 40s being found with fatal injuries having reportedly fallen from a window.
"A 38-year-old man was detained at the scene, arrested on suspicion of murder and has been taken to a police station for questioning.
"The victim will be formally identified and specialist officers will be supporting her family.
